At about 8:15 p.m., I was in my back yard stooped down with a flashlight looking for my boat trailer’s model information. I suddenly heard a very loud helicopter approaching from the Southeast. I looked up to see if I could spot it, but wasn’t able to see it due to the tree cover in my back yard.
Because it sounded so low and loud, I was curious to see what was going on. To get a better view, I quickly walked approximately 50 feet to my driveway for an unobstructed view of the sky. As I got to the driveway, I saw a helicopter flying quite low and fast emerge overhead.
As I watched the helicopter fly rapidly toward the North-Northwest, I noticed a bright light flying ahead of the helicopter in the same direction and at a similar altitude. The helicopter appeared to be flying at the same speed as the object.
What immediately struck me as odd is that the object was silent and there were no flashing aviation lights. By contrast, the helicopter’s aviation lights were easily visible throughout the event.
Both the object and helicopter continued flying North-Northwest. After about 20 seconds, the object was obscured by the tree line in the distance. A few seconds later, the helicopter was also obscured.
