Last week, NASA hit the headlines after its Opportunity Mars Rover sadly died after 15 years on the red planet.
According to science reporter Jacob Margolis, scientists at NASA said the last message they received from Opportunity on 10 June 2018 effectively translated to: “My battery is low and it’s getting dark.”
Now, one NASA fan has shown his love for the rover by getting a tattoo of it, alongside these last words.
Charles Finch, an author from Chicago tweeted a photo of the tattoo, although its owner remains unclear.
While the tattoo is a lovely sentiment, Twitter users were quick to point out a huge error with it.
The tattoo actually depicts Curiosity, another of NASA’s rovers on Mars, which is still very much alive and well.
One user said: “How do we tell him he got the wrong tattoo? I feel bad just looking at it.”

To everyone saying this person got the rover wrong, they were simply ahead of the curve as one day @MarsCuriosity will also have its batteries run low and it shall drift into its long night.

Another added: “Too bad you got the wrong rover. Oh my…thought that counts.”
However, another user looked on the bright side, and said: “To everyone saying this person got the rover wrong, they were simply ahead of the curve as one day @MarsCuriosity will also have its batteries run low and it shall drift into its long night.”
At least there’s always laser tattoo removal…
